Star Clash Copy Protection Letters

BBC and Electron guru Kevin Edwards was contracted by Gremlin Graphics Operations Manager Kevin Norburn to provide copy protection routines for Star Clash.

Star Clash plunged Gremlin into copyright hot water with Superior Software (a company who co-incidentally published many of Kevin Edward’s games) who claimed the game code was directly copied from Elite.

From the letters it seems the relationship was as troubled as the game itself, with Kevin E’s code proving difficult to duplicate for publication, and an on-going dispute between the parties over payment.

Scans kindly provided by Kevin Edwards.
